RF Design Engineer, Filter Based Products

We currently have an opportunity for an RF Design Engineer specializing in RF Filters and Filter based Assemblies. The individual in this position is responsible for the conception, planning, evaluation, documentation and development of RF Assemblies. Products range over a broad spectrum of complexities, including components, modules and integrated assemblies for the ECM/ESM markets. The filter technology includes Suspended Substrate, Lumped Element and Combline.

Primary duties include:

  • Prepare product documentation including block diagrams, preliminary schematics, bills of materials, sub-module specifications and compliance matrices.
  • As Project Engineer, act as the primary point of technical contact on new product development projects.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
  • Act as the technical lead in customer proposals. Determine feasibility of design, and evaluate electrical, mechanical and costing for proposals.
  • Conduct design reviews, prepare design information including supporting analysis and simulations and transfers of designs from Engineering to Production.
  • Interpret customer specifications; understand environmental requirements and their impact on design.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university is required.
  • Experience with Microwave Office preferred.
  • Experience with design and development of Microwave and RF Filters is required, particularly with lumped element, machined cavity and printed filter technologies.
  • Hands on knowledge of RF test equipment (spectrum and network analyzers, power meters, signal generators, etc.) is required.
  • Must have the ability to attain a security clearance; Active security clearance preferred.

 



Principal Electrical Design Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer with experience in the design of complex RF and microwave products. The selected candidate will be a key technical resource to the company and as such will contribute in a variety of different ways.

Primary duties include:

  • Evaluate major development project opportunities and work with customers and industry resources to develop effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with peers within the Filtronic technical community and industry peers to stay abreast of technology advances and alternatives.
  • Generate technical proposals for challenging electronic warfare and communications products ranging from subassemblies to complete systems.
  • Design and develop products ranging from switched filter assemblies to multiple frequency conversion receivers and transceivers operating from several MHz to 40 GHz.
  • Plan and execute development projects as the technical lead in an IPT (integrated product team) environment.
  • Product and development project cost estimating for proposals.
  • Conduct design reviews and peer reviews as necessary to transfer products from Engineering to Production.
  • Conceive, plan and conduct internal research and development projects aimed at advancing the FSS product technology toolkit.
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to model and analyze complex RF and microwave product designs.
  • Develop technical relationships with peers at key customer accounts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university is required. An advanced degree (MS or Phd) is preferred.
  • Must be skilled in the use of computer-aided simulation and design tools such as Microwave Office, ADS, Matlab, etc.
  • 10 or more years experience with design and development of RF / Microwave multi-function assemblies is required.
  • Experience with passive and active device and component technologies such as distributed and lumped element filters, GaAs FET, Silicon and GaAs HBT, Silicon and GaAs PIN diodes, diode detectors and analog circuits such as logarithmic amplifiers.
  • 5 plus years experience in Defense and Military components or subsystems markets (i.e. standard/custom products in hostile environments) preferred.
  • Hands on knowledge of RF test equipment (spectrum and network analyzers, power meters, signal generators, etc.) is required.
  • 2-4 years experience managing new product development projects preferred.
  • Experience mentoring others in engineering principles is preferred.
  • Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a security clearance; Active security clearance preferred.

 



RF Microwave Design Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for a RF Microwave designer fort our passive and active components. Passive products include high performance microwave filters, power combiners, attenuators and distribution networks using a variety of high frequency materials and manufacturing technologies. Active products include switches, mixers, variable attenuators and amplifiers. The products are typically characterized by their challenging bandwidth, sensitivity and dynamic range requirements.

Primary duties include:

  • Distributed and lumped element network design and analysis.
  • Product physical layout and drawing generation in conjunction with mechanical and CAD layout personnel.
  • Interpretation of customer specifications; understanding environmental requirements and their impact on design.
  • Preparation of product documentation including block diagrams, preliminary schematics, bills of materials, sub-module specifications and compliance matrices.
  • Proposal preparation including design option trade-off analysis, unit cost estimation and task – based development cost estimating in a team environment.
  • Preparation of design information including supporting analysis and simulations
  • Conduct design reviews, and transfer designs from Engineering to Production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
  • Experience with CAE tools such as AWR’s Microwave Office is preferred. Agilent ADS is an acceptable substitute.
  • Direct experience with the design and development of RF and microwave products is required.
  • RF and Microwave filter design experience is highly desirable.
  • Hands on knowledge of RF test equipment (spectrum and network analyzers, power meters, signal generators, etc.) is required.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to attain a security clearance; Active security clearance preferred.

 



Inside Sales Representative

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual with strong organizational, administrative and communication skills to join our team. In this role the Inside Sales Representative (ISR) will be an important member of the Sales team structure and will communicate directly with customers and internal departments regarding purchase orders, sales orders, expedite requests and product returns.

ISR position will support current and prospective customers for pricing, delivery and application support inquiries. Fulfill requests for pricing and accepts orders for products by email, FAX, telephone or personally from customer visits and company visits to our facility. Respond in a timely manner to customer inquiries and expedites.

Position involves implementation of account penetration strategies for existing and newly introduced products, direct and indirect selling using local manufacturers representatives and distribution, and hands-on applications and sales support through customer pricing and product fulfillment through production.

Primary duties include:

  • Prepare bids/proposals for standard products and repeat custom products either directly or in conjunction with the Sales Manager, Engineering, Operations and Sales Reps.
  • Secure approval for bids/proposals in accordance with company policy and objectives.
  • Maintains Bid log, Orders forecasts for Catalog and Make-To-Order products in conjunction with Sales Reps and Sales Management. Provide input to company stocking plan.
  • Manages customer product returns procedure from initial customer request for an RMA through to final product being returned to the customer.
  • Establishes, monitors, and recommends adjustments to the catalog products price book based on market trends and general business strategy.
  • Assist with marketing communications activities for sales literature, trade shows, web site, promotions and advertising for focus product and market areas.
  • Monitor project/program status from initiation through delivery and provides status information to Sales Management and Customers.
  • Support Strategic Planning in Budget process.
  • Prepares presentations to Customers and Senior Management as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university; or two to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook is required. Experience with MRP system in a manufacturing environment is a benefit.

 



Process Engineer

The Senior Microelectronics Process Engineer defines and documents new processes for the production of microelectronic microwave products; selects and qualifies new materials; determines workflow and trains personnel in all assembly techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment. 
  • Analyzes reports and returned products, and recommends corrective action. 
  • Prepares documentation for inspection/testing procedures.
  • Prepares audit reports and performs quality systems audits.

QA Engineer

Responsible for developing, applying, revising, and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify process areas for which standardized documentation is needed
  • Determine and document sequence of specific steps required to manufacture products
  • Prepare written process documentation for use by assemblers in performing work to defined standards
  • Develop and implement product design standards for use by design engineers in the development and transfer of products to manufacturing
  • Revise existing process documentation as needed to maximize yield and reduce cost
  • Determine assembly work flow and prepare job flow cards
  • Evaluate and select product materials in conjunction with design engineers
  • Train assembly personnel in correct assembly methodology based upon written documentation
  • As needed, design specialized tooling required to manufacture products
  • Review and approve engineering change orders
  • In conjunction with Quality Assurance and Purchasing Departments and Design

Education and/or Experience:

    B.S. Engineering; experience may substitute for education requirement
    Significant experience in microelectronic microwave process engineering
    Excellent technical writing skills
    Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills and the ability to relate effectively to personnel at multiple levels within an organization
    Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize work in a deadline-driven environment

         

       

      RF/Microwave Technician

      To be considered as a candidate you must have the following:

      • Microwave experience to 20 GHz
      • Strong test experience with Network & Spectrum Analyzer and Power Meters
      • Perform standard RF/Microwave tuning processes
      • Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve, repair, and perform rework to the component level
      • Effective communication skills, ability to work cross functionally in a professional manner; and a positive team oriented attitude

      Education and/or Experience:

      • The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a technical school; 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understanding of Microsoft Office, ATE computer operations, and experience with Agilent test equipment plus. Possession of a current security clearance is a plus, and a minimum of permanent residency status is a must.
