Mixers: Image Reject Mixer

An image reject mixer consists of a quadrature IF mixer and an IF hybrid. The IF hybrid combines the two IF outputs from the quadrature IF mixer (which are of equal amplitude and in phase quadrature) to produce an IF version of either the upper or lower sideband of the input RF signal. The other sideband is "rejected". The rejection of either the upper or lower sideband is detemined by the relative frequencies of the RF and LO signals.

Typical Specification is:
RF/LO Frequency Range 6 - 18 GHz
IF Frequency Range 110 - 220 MHz
Conversion Loss 7 dB
VSWR, RF and LO ports 2:1 typical
Isolation, LO to RF and LO to IF 30 dB minimum
LO drive 13 ± 1 dB
Input Two-Tone Third Order Intercept Point 17 dBm
Image rejection 25 dB
Operating Temperature Range -54 to +95 °C

Mixers: Single Sideband Modulator

A single sideband modulator is similar to an image reject mixer however is used in upconversion applications. It accepts an RF and an IF input signal and produces either the upper or lower sideband with the unwanted sideband suppressed.

Typical Specification is:
RF/LO Frequency Range 6 - 18 GHz
IF Frequency Range 110 - 220 MHz
Conversion Loss 7 dB
VSWR, RF and LO ports 2:1 typical
Isolation, LO to RF and LO to IF 30 dB minimum
LO drive 13 ± 1 dB
Input Two-Tone Third Order Intercept Point 17 dBm
Sideband Suppression 25 dB
Operating Temperature Range -54 to +95 °C
